Many streams on Twitch are at 3500 - 4000kbps, which would be approximately 4.5 Megabits of upload to stream at, so you wouldn't need even close to 10mbps beginners should probably shoot for somewhere in that range and be sure to enable OBS Dynamic bitrate capability, and even a lower than 5 Megabits connection is not necessarily the end of the world.
Thanks to /u/iTruthful and Conceptional for the art! Clip Contest: November 4th - 18th AMA: Previously: Certified Ergonomic Specialist and an Occupational Therapistġ0mbps if not shared by other users and substantial upload activity is sufficient for a Full HD stream - the highest bitrate recommended by Twitch for streaming is 6000 kbps which is really too much for many viewers to have a good experience - Unless you are a partner that gets transcoding or a lucky affiliate that tends to win the lottery and always get quality options for your streams, high bitrate streaming is not necessary and can potentially limit the viewership.
